Here is a short clip showing what my footage looks like pre and post processing.
My new adjusted picture control settings are:
Sharpening: 2
Contrast: -2
Saturation -2
I just set it to Neutral and then edit that profile further. But you can easily create a new custom profile (or setting).
As you can see in the after/before footage there is quite a bit more detail in the snow. This was lost when I increased the contrast. As I didn’t care about the detail in the snow, this wasn’t an issue. If I did care, I could have adjusted the overall contrast just before loosing the detail, and then created a mask over the areas I want to have more punch (not including the snow).





Im new to nikon and picture control settings. What is the advantages to your settings?
As you can’t shoot in RAW like photos the idea is to capture the most info as possible, with a large dynamic range.
This gives you more info for post processing color correction later on.
ok, so these setting affect video and jpeg not raw?
